[/media-credit]Southwestern College Jaguars basketball team gets their fifth Pacific Coast Conference win over the opposing Cuyamaca College Coyotes with a final score of 72 to 63.
It started out with SWC’s point guard Derrick Thompson draining two consecutive three pointers. Despite the extra hype Thompson brought to the court, the Jags began to miss multiple shots from beyond the paint.
Our Jags eventually took control of the pace of the game and continued to play a full-court press defense throughout the game, putting constant pressure on the Coyotes.
Posting up for the Jags Langston with 18 points, Laurence Degracia with 13 and both Thompson and Ian Sutton with a contributed 11 points.
SWC definitely showcased their talents and took the game for a well-earned victory.
“We’re in a stretch where we’re playing three out of four at home,” said Associate Head Coach Kyle Colwell. “Hopefully we can take care of our home court and avenge a couple losses we had in the first round. It’s conference, every game’s a dog fight. We play them twice a year, and they know what we’re going do and we know what they’re going to do. The scoring tends to come down to the end when you’re playing conference games.”
SWC Jag’s next game will be at home against San Diego Mesa College this Friday at 5pm. Let us see if they can get another win and send the Olympians home crying.
