There are 4,020 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Diego County as of Monday, with 544 in Chula Vista accounting for 13.7% of the total. There have been 144 deaths associated with the novel virus, according to data provided by the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Services, Epidemiology and Immunization Services Branch.

Deaths associated with COVID-19 have predominantly affected people over eighty.

  • 80 years or older: 47.9%.
  • 70-79 years old: 24.3%.
  • 60-69 years old: 13.9%.
  • 50-59 years old: 8.3%.
  • 40-49 years old: 2.8%
  • 30-39 years old: 1.4%
  • 20-29 years old: 1.4%.

County health officials organized the outbreak data by ethnicity. Officials were unable to identify 799 of the 4.020 cases. The demographics of positive cases are as follows.

  • Hispanic or Latino: 54.8%.
  • White: 29.4%.
  • Asian: 8.8%.
  • Black: 4.6%.
  • Pacific Islander: 1.1%.
  • Multiracial: 1.1%.
  • American Indian: 0.2%.

The County of San Diego has performed a total of 61,171 COVID-19 tests.  With 751 cases out of 4,020 positive cases, 50-59 year olds and 30-39 years old have had more positive cases for the novel coronavirus above other ages. 40-49 years olds account for 677 cases followed by 20-29 year olds with 629 cases.
