There are 3,141 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Diego County as of Monday, with 395 in Chula Vista accounting for 12.8% of the total. There have been 113 deaths associated with the novel virus, according to data provided by the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Services, Epidemiology and Immunization Services Branch.
Deaths associated with COVID-19 have predominantly affected people over eighty.
- 80 years or older: 46%.
- 70-79 years old: 23.9%.
- 60-69 years old: 16.8%.
- 50-59 years old: 6.2%.
- 40-49 years old: 3.5%
- 30-39 years old: 1.8%
- 20-29 years old: 1.8%.
County health officials organized the outbreak data by ethnicity. Officials were unable to identify 665 of the 3,141 cases.
- Hispanic or Latino: 49.3%.
- White: 33.8%.
- Asian: 9.4%.
- Black: 4.8%.
- Pacific Islander: 1.2%.
- Multiracial: 1.3%.
- American Indian: 0.3%.
The County of San Diego has performed a total of 45,758 COVID-19 tests. With 609 cases out of 3,141 positive cases, 50-59 year olds have had more positive cases for the novel coronavirus above other ages. 30-39 years olds account for 602 cases followed by 40-49 year olds with 537 cases.
The data is preliminary and is subject to change. Zip codes may not necessarily indicate the location of exposure. Data was collected by the Southwestern College Sun Newspaper in collaboration with the Geographic Information Science and Technology Program to display with an interactive map.
